Receiving a Refund for Your Ring Camera? Here’s How to Claim It

If you’re a Ring camera owner, you might have some unexpected money coming your way as compensation for a breach of privacy.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) recently announced that settlement payments related to a 2023 complaint against Ring, the doorbell camera company, are being disbursed to affected customers. The FTC accused Ring of serious privacy violations, including unauthorized access by employees and contractors to customer videos used for algorithm training without consent.

How to Claim Your Ring Settlement Payout:

As part of the settlement, 117,044 Ring owners are entitled to receive direct payments for the inconvenience caused. These payments will be processed through PayPal and sent automatically to eligible users. If you’re eligible, you should have received an email notification this week informing you about the available funds. You have 30 days to claim the payment from PayPal.

In case you encounter any issues with your payment, you can contact Rust Consulting Inc. at 1-833-637-4884. They are responsible for administering the payments.

While there may be various reasons why someone might choose not to own a Ring camera, if you do have one, you may find some unexpected financial relief a few years down the line.
